The Dress

Okay so about THE DRESS. It's sooooo beautiful AND it's comfortable, easy to move around in, eat, and dance the night away!!
It's a Hadas Cohen long sleeved beaded lace chiffon gown with a deep V illusion neckline and an open back. It's from the Winter 2014 collection. It has built in cups. The silk is white. Silk braided and beaded around the waist. Made in Israel. I tried on many Israeli designs - Berta, Galia Lahav, Inbal Dror, etc - and this is of the same quality, same style, same price point.

There is a backstory that comes along with this dress which is basically that I was so so lucky to come across and wear it, and now I want to pass on the chance to someone else!! So the story is that I was obsessed with long sleeved deep V Berta dresses and one of the boutique owners I visited told me everyone relisted them after to make up some of the cost. The next day, I looked online to see if that was true and I happened upon this dress, which had just been listed a few blocks away from me by a girl who looked just like me and had bought the dress impulsively at a sample sale and then changed her mind because they decided to elope vs. have a big city wedding. The dress was almost exactly what I was looking for, she'd bought it from a boutique in Yorkville where I had tried on other Hadas Cohen dresses the day before, and it was my size!!! Fate, right? So I obviously immediately bought it from her, tags still attached, unworn, all original documentation, etc. Take your wins where you can get them!!

I just thought it would be great if someone else could have the opportunity to wear such a stunning designer gown - it's your wedding, after all!! Better than it hanging in my closet for years on end :)

The dress is a designer sample size so it was super long. For reference in the pictures, I am 5'4" 112b 32D 26" waist and 36" hips. It's probably going to fit similar body types best but it's very forgiving on the bottom half!!

I had the hem shortened to fit me with 4" heels on; it still has the original long train and then I added a bustle that buttons up seamlessly.

Also, the original sleeves were bell sleeves and I had them altered to have buttons along the wrist so the sleeves were fitted and the right length but still had the original fringe lace hem.

All the alterations turned out beautifully, the dress fit like a dream and was so easy to wear.

Full disclaimer, there is a small rip along the bottom side hem. When I was getting ready in the morning, someone pulled the dress out of the garment bag and the hem got caught in the zipper and ripped a small strip off :( It's not noticeable, I didn't think twice about it at any point in the day, but it's there. I haven't fixed it because I don't know what the next person will want to do with the length (i.e. wouldn't matter if you're shorter than me and had to hem it 1/2" or more anyways). I do have the missing strip of fabric, it's probably like 4" by 1/2".
