The Dress

Vintage Gown + Veil + Gloves Tamara Kristen | Marisa Bridal

$250, firm, as is, needs steaming as silk wrinkles when stored in a box, may need minor repairs depending on fit, was not an issue for me

Size 6, unaltered, lined

Fits like a 4- waist, 6- shoulders and hips, long enough for 5'8" bride wearing 2.5" heels. Can be shortened.

Between an A-line and ball gown, has a built-in slip underneath. Can add another for fullness for a more dramatic look or keep it minimal, as seen here.

Silk gardenias are very pretty, feminine.

The bride: 5’8", 123 lbs, 32" inseam, worn with 2 ½” heels in these photos, bust 34B

Worn with a lightly boned, plunged back Felina bridal bustier in white with the matching panty and light silk stockings.

Veil is a lightweight luxe tulle, double tiered cathedral, top layer is between elbow and fingertip length. I have very long arms.

Styling includes a very subtle sweetheart neckline with capped sleeves, the fitted bodice has a mid scooped back, skirt-to-hem this gorgeous lightweight silk has a lovely, lovely flow and works perfectly with just the built in slip in exaggerated A-line.

Special feature: this gown can be worn with a crinoline or hoop underneath for a full ballgown style. There is a lot of the lovely smooth, floaty silk; and, it was made to be worn either way.

This elegant, classic gown is truly all about the fabric and flow; it turns heads as you move as the details are just enough to elicit surprise, while still remaining modern and understated. In the ballroom style, it is much more dramatic.

Includes: gown, headpiece, veil, gloves, original pink Saison de Brides hanging bag, box

Condition: Gently worn, professionally cleaned and heirloomed and recently opened for checking. It is wrapped in a lovely light white silk chosen by our professional cleaner for fine preservation. It will be shipped wrapped in the silk in the original box. The box is not in new condition. It will be wrapped for shipping.

Shipping and insurance costs are the responsibility of the buyer.

The dress will need to be professionally steamed prior to the fitting as it will arrive wrinkled. This is what happens to silk when stored. Once it is steamed and hanging, you will see what I mean about the silk flowing and floating. The train and veil are truly breathtaking. Luminous.

Purchased: Saison de Brides, Maui, Hawai’i, for a destination wedding

Fit: To get a general idea of how this shape might look on you, maybe see David’s Bridal #4XLSLWG3811 if available in your area. It is similar shapewise.

This gown is silk, has a subtle sweetheart neckline and sleeve with a scooped back; so, the skirt zips up to just above the top of the waistline in back and closes via a “no-show” type hook and eye (no buttons) at the top edge. This Marisa gown is really well structured. If you can find a classic Marisa gown, try one on and you'll see what I mean. They feel supportive without restricting movement- a priority for me.

Brides who wear Marisa gowns understand that they will be wearing gowns that focus on structure and silhouettes, fitted with traditional elegance and modern design. Made with luxurious silk, it is no wonder that brides have been choosing the Marisa Collection gowns for the past 26 years.

Tamara Kristen, designer of the Marisa Collection, takes your wallet into account as she designs her dresses. She has found a way to offer elegance at an affordable price point via her business plan. To keep costs down, Tamara doesn’t advertise her designs. This allows her to give brides their dreamy dress without the high expense of other high end and aggressively branded couture gowns. There is no cutting corners or any child labor involved. This is an American made gown and finely crafted.

This gown's luxurious silk has an indescribably light, soft, lovely flow that appears almost as if it is floating. It was the feel and drape of the silk that initially compelled me to try this dress on and I did so immediately: this was the dress I had searched (and searched…and searched some more) to find: I knew this dress was my “it” gown the instant I saw the reflection of hemline cross into the lower corner of the mirror. The movement of the silk is very special. This is not super shiny silk, rather one with a subtle sheen that reflects light with a softness that is flattering to the skin.

With the gorgeous top layer of the double veil draped around the shoulders, fully back, or forward, it stuns. The dress makes a dramatic entrance in the ballgown style with a hoop underneath. Worn as an A-line as it is here, the big moment comes as the bride passes by and the veil and train follow.

This dress is suitable for a day time, afternoon or evening wedding. The short gloves are very elegant.

Too pretty to sit in the box in the top of a closet.

There is a tiny flaw on one sleeve that didn't bother me as it wasn't noticeable once the sleeve was steamed. You may wish to have a seamstress look at it to make it perfect. I've included the photo of that sleeve from the side view so you can see how it looked on.

The headpiece needs the velcro replaced where the veil attaches. Gloves have some yellowing in area of fingertips from my flowers, can be replaced. Silk gardenias are attached and can be removed and hand stitched to fresh gloves. Short white gloves are pretty easy to order or purchase at bridal shops. Verified by seamstress.

Pricing has been set for any changes you wish to make and to allow this gown to remain affordable.

The dress is stored at a relative's home in a secure closet away from any use. It will be shipped in the original box with insurance at your cost and a pink Saisons de Brides hanging bag included on request.

Priced to be in reach, cost-wise, of many brides. We hope to pass it along to someone who will love the dress and be able to afford any needed alterations or repairs you wish to make. Best wishes and thanks for the interest; it's a lovely dress and very elegant on.
