The Dress

This dress is beautiful! Perfect for a stylish bride with a romantic bohemian heart! No matter what type of wedding, this gown is beautifully elegant and classic.
It is so easy to wear, comfortable, light and easy to transport. Perfect for sitting, dancing and walking up the aisle. The slip is very figure flattering as is cut on the bias and is a forgiving fabric.
From the Rue De Seine website: The ‘Ivy’ is from the Rue De Seine ‘Young Love’ Collection and is a white French Lace gown with shoulder scallop, high neck and button back closure. Inspired by the romance of French lace the Ivy gown is a light, airy silhouette made entirely of French lace over a bias cut silk slip. It has a fitted bodice and waistband going into a fuller skirt at hem. It has a high/low hemline with full train and scalloped edge.
There is a slight improvement to the train with a tiny professionally added button hoop that hooks on to the back buttons for ease of walking and dancing.
I purchased from Secret Lace, a wedding dress shop in Auckland selling a range of wedding dress brands and I also purchased with the Dahlia slip (also made by Rue De Seine) a bias cut cream Silk Crepe slip as the back on this slip was lower and the bust was more of a princess cut. You will see in the photos that the back of the slip I have sits down in line with the waist, whereas in photos of the other Ivy dresses the slip that comes with it starts half way down the back. I preferred this as it shows off more of the beautiful lace pattern on the back. Also I preferred the combination of the white lace over a cream slip.
The lace shell is a size 6 and the slip a size 10. A little confusing but fit perfectly. I would consider myself a size NZ 6-8 being 167cm tall, 60kg and a 10B bust. My measurements are bust 83cm, waist 66cm, hips 98cm. I wore high heels on the day and changed to flats later on. The length is very forgiving because of the high/low hem. You could be much, much taller and still be fine in it. I have had only the slip altered to give a little more room around the hips and have shortened the slip straps, however, both of these adjustments can easily be restored and even lengthened. Worn once and then hand cleaned (rather than dry cleaned as the lace is so delicate) and is in ‘as new’ condition, no holes or marks, missing buttons or shape change. It comes in the original dress bag I received it in. Before you wear it I would recommend steaming the slip to remove any minor wrinkles from storing, although the lace outer does a really good job of hiding any wrinkles!
