The Dress
Vera Wang makes all bridal dreams come true!
The Octavia gown is whimsical, magical, romantic and ethereal!
Octavia is both traditional in it's silhouette and stature as a beautiful ball gown, and edgy with it's textured tulle. Can be worn for a formal church ceremony as well as a more whimsical and light wedding ceremony. It's versatility is part of it's appeal.
The designer described octavia (www.verawang.com): "A buoyant ball gown like Octavia expresses exactly that kind of sentiment — it’s a dress designed to be constantly in motion. As it moves, all the different layers of transparency are revealed. The skirt just kind of explodes into this fun, haphazard display of tulle. Then there are these sheer, ruched panels in the front that create an almost apron-like effect. It’s one of the things I love most about this dress, the way these panels form a kind of grid pattern, like the skeleton of a plaid print. It’s a very subtle graphic detail that brings so much modernity to the gown.
This ruching is one of the main decorative elements in this collection, and I’ve also used it in the strapless bodice, where it’s even more finely pleated. Hitting at the natural waist, the bodice is made out of that soft, fine French tulle, layered over a nude foundation. The crisscross basketweave effect of the ruching gives it a very soft, drapey look. I find it so simple and elegant to create a feeling of embellishment with nothing more than the way I’ve manipulated the fabrics.
With all the light, airy volume in the skirt creating so much effortless energy, Octavia is one of my most youthful and fun dresses for Spring. Playful and perfectly imprecise, there’s such a lovely sense of fragility and freedom — a cloud, floating through the sky, blowing wherever the wind takes her."
This was THE dress from the moment I saw it, and I will always cherish it!
-The dress was taken in slightly to fit around my waist. (Can be let out again, or taken in more)
-Cups were added on the inside so I did not need to wear a bra. (Can be removed or kept as necessary)
-The overlay at the front was moved to the side to allow for the tulle underneath to peak out and move when walking down the aisle.
-Dress was shortened to my height. I am 5'3 and I wore 4 inch heels the day of the wedding. The dress grazed the floor.
